Join the Valsight team and shape the future of business management with us!

About the role:

In order to establish Valsight as the leading planning solution, we are looking for a  Working Student Backend Development (f/m/d) who enjoys working with our product and wants to get started in an international and dynamic team.

You will be working as a member in our agile Scrum Team, fully integrated into our agile processes, developing new features.

Your responsibilities:

  • You will work in a growing development team and implement features independently.
  • You will create high quality code and test cases.
  • Reviewing your colleague's code and provide valuable feedback in their pull requests will also be part of your job.
  • You will adhere to our team's development practices and agile process (and influence these through regular Sprint retrospectives).
  • Proudly presenting the work of the development team in Sprint demos is something you will do with our team.
  • You will work with our product management team to implement product requirements.

Job requirements

Your profile:

  • You are eager to code with an ability to learn fast and familiarize yourself with new technologies.
  • You are at least in the second year of your studies in computer science, software engineering or a similar field.
  • You have experience with Java-based programming languages (e.g. Java or Groovy).
  • It's a plus, if you already have some experience with the frameworks Hibernate, Spring and Grails.
  • You have a self-driven hands-on mentality and want to collaborate with team members to constantly improve the product.
  • You are experienced with version control based development workflows (we use git flow, pull requests and code reviews).
  • Ideally, you have a basic knowledge of unit and integration testing.
  • You are fluent in English.

Our benefits:

  • Real ownership: Do you want to take responsibility for topics and projects and develop yourself further? It’s a match - with us you get the freedom and responsibility to do so.
  • Transparency & Growth: We live an open and transparent culture. In addition to an attractive and above average salary, we offer regular feedback, mentoring and a training and development budget. A special focus is on continuous development through the Personal Mission Plan, which supports your individual goals.
  • Balance is key: We offer you flexible working hours and 20 days of vacation plus an extra half day off as a present for your birthday. Within our hybrid working model, you decide when you prefer to work from home or with your colleagues in the office, including shared breaks.
  • We win and grow together: Yes, we are tired of hearing “flat hierarchies” and “hands-on mentality” and instead say: We want to grow together, tackle things, improve and think ahead. We can only do that if we are open and transparent with each other, regardless of job title. It is very important to us that everyone is heard and seen, and that insights into all departments are possible at all times. This is supported by various formats, such as our Ask-me-Anything Breakfasts, Company Retros, our Pulse Surveys (in which team spirit always gets top marks) and much more.
  • Smells like team spirit: We are a diverse group of people who like to hang out together from time to time. Team-building events are not prescribed “from above” but requested “from below”. And so we enjoy getting together offline on short trips, office parties or enjoyable get-togethers.
  • Great place to work: We wouldn’t be a Berlin fintech start-up if we didn’t offer you bright, open, and well-connected offices in the heart of Berlin (Kreuzberg), with individually tailored technical equipment. We don’t have a dress code, come as you are - and feel free to bring your four-legged friend.
  • In the mood for food: To make you feel comfortable in the office, we always take care of your physical well-being. In addition to fresh fruit and cereals for the best start to the day, drinks and snacks of all kinds are available on request.

Do you want to shape and define an enterprise-level product?  Then Valsight is the right place for you. Apply now with your comprehensive application.  If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us.

Please don't hold back! 🚀

If you don't meet all of the above criteria, but still fit most of the requirement range, we encourage you to apply to us anyway. Let's find out together if we are a good fit for each other. We are looking forward to your application.

Studies have shown that i.e. women tend to rate their chances of success in competition lower than men. Women only apply for an open position when they are convinced that they meet all the requirements.
